Best Places for Engagement Photos in San Francisco

1. Palace of Fine Arts Engagement Photos

The Palace of Fine Arts is a palatial structure still in place and kept in perfect condition since it’s debut in 1915 at the Panama-Pacific Exposition (World’s Fair.) With an immense dome in the center of the park, beautiful landscaping and a charming pond with swans and sea birds, the scenery is positively ethereal. Ask us about the story of the Palace of Fine Arts during your engagement session in San Francisco and we'll be happy to share some interesting facts with you!

2. Crissy Field Engagement Photos

Crissy Field is an expansive park on the Bay within the Presidio area of San Francisco. With incredible views of the Golden Gate Bridge, a few beaches, a charming cafe called “The Warming Hut” and plenty of lush green grass, this is a great location for photos that offers a large variety of different scenery. Crissy Field is a great engagement session spot and also one of the most popular locations for bride and groom portraits for a San Francisco wedding.

3. Baker Beach Engagement Photos

Baker Beach is the best beach in San Francisco with views of the Golden Gate Bridge. It’s also easily accessible with plenty of parking and no steep or treacherous hikes. It’s beautiful both in sunny and foggy weather!

4. Pier 7 Engagement Photos

If you are in search of a more urban setting, Pier 7 is a great spot close to Market Street downtown as well as the iconic blue Ferry Building. Be sure to go around sunset for the best lighting! Pier 7 is also a great location for engagement sessions in San Francisco at night.

5. San Francisco City Hall Engagement Photos

It is easy to understand why San Francisco City Hall is one of the top U.S. destinations for elopements and wedding ceremonies. With breathtaking Beaux-Art architecture inside and out, SF City Hall is an incredible backdrop for any photo. Consider this option on windy days during the week when it is open (this location is closed on weekends.)

6. Lover’s Lane Engagement Photos in Presidio Park

Nestled in Presidio Park, Lover’s Lane is a fairytale worthy trail, perfect for any photo shoot. The winding path is lined with beautiful, immense Eucalyptus trees which makes for an amazing perspective in photos. A romantic choice for anyone interested in a photo shoot in the forest, with the convenience of being in San Francisco.

7. Marin Headlands Engagement Photos

There are so many beautiful coastal spots for engagement photos in Marin. Whether it’s the Marin Headlands, Cavallo Point, Muir Beach, or other beaches, we’re sure to find you some amazing photo spots in this beautiful part of the Bay Area.

8. Legion of Honor Engagement Photos

This is another palatial location in San Francisco near Land’s End with incredible architecture and a luxurious look. Legion of Honor is a great location in the winter months (Nov – Feb) when the sun sets early. Because it is a museum, the site is closed after 5:15pm, so it’s important to plan the photo shoot before it closes.

9. Lands End Engagement Photos

Lands End engagement photos are always a spectacular mix of wild terrain and unique scenery. Here, you can find the popular Sutro Bath ruins which are a really cool backdrop for photos. You can also take a 15 minute hike to one of the most secluded photo spots in San Francisco, Mile Rock Beach. Here, you will find colorful smooth rocks lining a rugged coastline with a view of the Golden Gate Bridge. On a sunny day, streams of light may come through the trees. On a foggy day, the feel will be a little more moody and romantic.

10. Golden Gate Park Engagement Photos

Golden Gate Park is a beautiful place with a variety of different locations. This location is so large that we recommend a two-hour shoot if you want to do multiple spots. Our most popular destination in Golden Gate Park is Stow Lake. We are able to capture a lot of different scenes here in a short period of time thanks to our experience shooting here so often!

Be prepared to leave your heart in San Francisco, the beautiful California city on the Bay!
